Governing Rules
Jubilee Opera aims to produce opera and music theatre of the highest standard involving children and young people in East Anglia working with professionals, in order to give them an opportunity of experiencing various of aspects of music and performance. It is the group’s aim to offer these opportunities to a wide range of young people who would not otherwise have such a chance to nurture and develop their skills.Working as they do with professionals, the standard aimed for is exacting and rewarding.
Jubilee Opera Chorus, formed three years ago, offers sessions during the term time for choral training, together with opportunities for young people to develop skills as solo performers.
Activities
Training sessions during the spring and summer terms lead on to a production in the autumn. Jubilee Opera Chorus is augmented through public advertisement, invitations and auditioning, to form a company of singers, musicians, designers, stage management and other supporting helpers, to produce operas written by established and new composers, featuring young people and professionals. Participation takes the form of rehearsals and production sessions out of school hours and at weekends, leading to public performances in the Jubilee Hall, Aldeburgh and elsewhere in the region.
Membership
There is no formal membership, but core members of Jubilee Opera Chorus are expected to be committed. There is no subscription fee.
General business
The affairs of the group are controlled by a Management Committee comprising the Artistic Director, the Administrator, the Treasurer and up to two other members involved in the productions. A further two members may be co-opted if required. Meetings are held as necessary to plan repertoire and productions.
